The solicitation, issued by the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support Mech office in Mechanicsburg, PA, is a presolicitation for the repair and modification of speed gear assemblies. The notice clarifies that it is not a competitive solicitation request, but interested sources may submit information regarding their ability to meet requirements either as a commercial item within 15 days or through proposals within 30 to 45 days depending on the procurement method. Market research has indicated the acquisition is outside the scope of commercial item acquisition policies (FAR Part 12).
