AI Contract Overview

This contract involves the procurement of a single unit of a diesel generator set requiring repair or modification, with delivery terms specified as FOB Origin to Carter Machinery Company Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia. The government intends to negotiate exclusively with one source, as it lacks sufficient data or rights to acquire this part from additional suppliers. Although this notice is not a solicitation for competitive quotes, interested parties may express their interest, submit capability statements, or provide quotations within specified timeframes, and these submissions will be considered solely to determine if a competitive procurement is warranted. The anticipated contract is governed under FAR 6.302-1, allowing sole-source negotiation due to unique circumstances. The contract references Military and Federal specifications and standards available through the DoD Single Stock Point, with instructions for obtaining relevant documentation primarily via online resources such as ASSIST-Online. The government emphasizes that requests for patterns, drawings, or deviation lists are not fulfilled through this channel. Although the government has conducted market research indicating that commercial item acquisition policies under FAR Part 12 do not apply here, interested commercial suppliers may still notify the contracting officer of their capabilities within 15 days. This procurement is managed under the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support Mechanical Office located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
