AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of six units of the J-Gun Control Unit for repair or modification, with delivery terms specified as FOB origin to Moog Inc. located in East Aurora, New York. This procurement is being conducted through a sole-source negotiation, as the government has indicated that only one manufacturer can supply the required parts due to specific source control and the unavailability of adequate technical data, government rights, or manufacturing knowledge to allow sourcing from alternatives. The contract references strict compliance with DoD-STD-100 standards, highlighting that the part must come from the designated manufacturing source due to qualification and data limitations, and that the government lacks the ability or economic feasibility to obtain necessary data or rights from other sources. Interested parties are invited to express their interest and capability to meet the requirement, though the government maintains discretion over whether to pursue competitive procurement based on the responses. Documentation related to military and federal standards is accessible through the DoD Single Stock Point and ASSIST-Online for reference. Award will depend on qualification at the time of contract award according to FAR clause 52.209-1. Notably, the acquisition does not follow FAR Part 12 policies for commercial items, reflecting the specialized nature of the requirement. The contracting office is located within the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and inquiries can be directed there for further qualification information.
