The contract pertains to the procurement of a hydraulic motor identified by NSN 7H-4320-012347118-VM, with one unit to be delivered FOB origin to Metso Minerals Industries Inc., located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. The government intends to negotiate exclusively with a single source due to the specialized engineering expertise, manufacturing knowledge, and unique design capability of the approved supplier, which is essential to maintaining part quality. This single-source approach is necessary because the approved source retains proprietary data rights and technical information not economically accessible to the government, and any alternate source would need to meet rigorous qualification standards set by the designated government engineering authority. This action is issued by the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support Mechanical office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. While this notice is not a solicitation for competitive quotes, interested parties may express their interest and capability, which the government will consider to determine whether to conduct competitive procurement. The contract involves repair or modification services to the specified hydraulic motor, with engineering source approval required by the design control activity to ensure compliance with quality standards. The government retains discretion over competition decisions and requires that any alternate supplier qualify under procedures approved by the relevant engineering activity that oversees the part's intended application.
