The Customs and Border Protection, Rio Grande Valley, plans to award a sole-source Maintenance Service Agreement to NICE Systems Inc., based in Melbourne, Florida, under the authority of specific federal acquisition regulations that allow for non-competitive procurement. This agreement ensures that NICE Systems, the original installer and ongoing maintainer of the existing equipment, will continue to provide comprehensive service and repair support for critical hardware and software used by the US Border Patrol. The maintenance contract covers equipment upkeep, including replacement parts, service calls, on-site repairs, and, when necessary, servicing or replacement of hard-drive records and PCs. Additionally, software support such as upgrades and program replacements is included to ensure equipment remains fully operational and under warranty, as involvement by other contractors would void the original equipment warranty. The contract renewal involves maintaining a diverse range of communication and monitoring equipment including various Windows workstations, analog couplers, compression devices, software packages, network hubs, switches, monitors, and recorders. The procurement is conducted as a commercial item acquisition under FAR Part 13, with administrative oversight from the Department of Homeland Security’s Fletc Glynco Procurement Office. Points of contact and relevant procedural details are managed by a designated contract specialist, ensuring smooth coordination for this critical service agreement aimed at sustaining operational readiness for border security communications infrastructure.
