AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the acquisition of nine units of a specific power supply part, designated by NSN 7H-6130-012616029, for repair and modification purposes. The delivery terms specify FOB origin to Crane Electronics Inc. located in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This procurement is conducted under a sole-source justification per FAR 6.302-1, as the required item must be acquired from a specified manufacturing source designated under DoD-STD-100 due to the lack of adequate technical data, government data rights, and manufacturing knowledge that would allow for competition or qualification of alternate sources. Consequently, this action reflects the need to preserve the integrity of the original design and to prevent cost-prohibitive efforts that would otherwise be necessary. The notice clarifies that while this is not a request for competitive quotes, interested parties may express their interest or submit quotations prior to award to be considered by the government. The government reserves the discretion to decide whether to open competition based on responses received. Additionally, the contract does not follow commercial item acquisition policies under FAR Part 12 but remains open to proposals demonstrating commercial item capabilities within 15 days. Access to relevant military and federal specifications and standards is facilitated primarily through online resources such as ASSIST-Online and the DODSSP, with instructions for obtaining necessary documents provided to ensure potential sources are fully informed. The office responsible for this contract is the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support in Mechanicsburg, PA.
