The 12th Contracting Squadron at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, intends to award a sole source purchase order to Hologic for a preventative maintenance program on the Hologic Digital X-Ray System, Model Epex Gold Service Type. This agreement, estimated at $39,000, covers comprehensive maintenance services including parts, labor, tools, and transportation necessary to inspect, repair, and maintain the digital X-ray unit, which is valued at over $120,000. Hologic is the original manufacturer of the system and holds proprietary rights to the Digital Ray software critical to the unit's operation, justifying the sole source procurement under federal regulations and ensuring proper support from their specialized technicians. The maintenance contract aims to address existing technical malfunctions and prevent future issues, thereby extending the lifespan of the equipment installed in 2002. Due to Hologic’s exclusive ownership of the needed parts and software, as well as their previously established role as installer and service provider, no competitive bidding is sought. The 12th Medical Group plans to monitor the market for future opportunities to open competition and mitigate sole source dependencies. The solicitation was posted with a response deadline of August 11, with designated points of contact available for inquiries.
