AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of 18 units of a voltage regulator (NSN 7H-6110-013552933-GL) intended for repair or modification purposes. The delivery terms are FOB origin, with the contract to be issued to Kato Engineering Inc., located in Mankato, Minnesota. This contract action is a sole-source negotiation under FAR 6.302-1, indicating the Government's intent to negotiate exclusively with Kato Engineering due to insufficient or inadequate data available for purchasing the part from other sources. Although the notice is not a request for competitive quotes, the Government invites interested parties to express their interest and capability to fulfill the requirement or submit quotations, which will be considered before final award. Responses received assist the Government in deciding whether to proceed with a competitive procurement or maintain sole-source negotiations. The solicitation, identified as N0010412PCM66, was posted by the Department of Defense’s Navsup Weapon Systems Support Office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. It emphasizes that while commercial item acquisition policies under FAR Part 12 are not applicable, potential suppliers can still notify the contracting officer of their ability to meet the requirement with commercial items within 15 days. Documentation relevant to the specification and qualification of the part can be accessed through the DoD Single Stock Point and the ASSIST-Online system, although certain technical drawings and descriptions are not stocked in these databases. The overall approach reflects a controlled procurement process ensuring government needs are met while allowing for potential market interest to be assessed.
