AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the procurement of 12 units of a fiber optic switch, identified by NSN 7R-6021-015160771-EX, with technical data package version 001. The delivery terms are FOB origin, and the contract is to be issued to Harris Corporation located in Palm Bay, Florida. This acquisition is being pursued through a non-competitive, sole-source intent due to the specialized, flight-critical nature of the item and the limited availability of technical data, which restricts acquisition to government-approved sources only. The government currently lacks sufficient data to purchase this part from other suppliers, and the time required to approve new sources does not allow for delaying the contract award. Consequently, only previously approved sources have been solicited. Potential new sources interested in competing must submit detailed technical data according to the Naval Inventory Control Point Philadelphia Source Approval Information Brochure. This submission is critical for consideration, as proposals lacking required technical data or proof of prior submissions will be disqualified. If source approval cannot be granted in time to meet operational needs, the government reserves the right to proceed with the existing approved source to fulfill its requirements. The contract is solicited by the Department of Defense's Navsup Weapon Systems Support office in Philadelphia and reflects the agency’s priority on meeting fleet support demands while safeguarding quality and reliability in flight-critical components.
