AI Contract Overview

The contract pertains to the procurement of three units of a specific item identified by NSN 7H-7025-016256354-VN, described as a transport magnetic component intended for repair or modification purposes. The delivery terms are FOB origin, with the items to be issued to Lockheed Martin Corporation in Moorestown, New Jersey. This contract is structured as a sole-source action under FAR 6.302-1, where the government intends to negotiate only with one specified manufacturer due to the lack of suitable technical data, government data rights, or manufacturing knowledge to allow acquisition from other sources or to permit qualification of alternate parts. Despite being a sole-source procurement, the government invites interested parties to express their interest and capability, and any quotes or proposals received before the award date will be considered at the government's discretion. The procurement process emphasizes that the item must be acquired from the original or specified manufacturing source per DoD-STD-100 standards, as alternate sourcing or qualification is not feasible or cost-effective. While this notice is not a competitive solicitation, the government is open to receiving responses within 45 days, which may inform its decision to pursue a competitive procurement. The contract is managed through the Naval Supply Systems Command (Navsup) Weapon Systems Support in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and interested parties are guided on how to obtain related military and federal specifications and standardized documents through the DoD Single Stock Point or online resources. The government explicitly states that commercial item acquisition policies under FAR Part 12 do not apply to this procurement but encourages commercial suppliers to express capability within 15 days if applicable.
