The contract involves the procurement of five units of a solenoid valve, identified by NSN 7H-4810-015369452, designated for repair or modification, with the delivery terms set as FOB origin to Marotta Controls Inc. located in Montville, New Jersey. This notice serves as an intent to negotiate with a single source rather than a request for competitive bids. However, interested parties may express their interest or submit quotes prior to award, which the government will consider in deciding whether to proceed competitively. The government currently lacks sufficient data to source this part from vendors other than the existing supplier, underlining the unique qualification of the current contractor. The contract is managed by the Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support Mechanical office in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The solicitation number is N0010412PCA09, and the notice was posted on October 3, 2011. This procurement is categorized as a presolicitation, and there is no specified set-aside type or NAICS code. The government's discretion in pursuing competitive procurement is based on responses received, but the indication is clear that this acquisition is primarily intended to maintain continuity with the current supplier due to the specialized nature of the item and lack of interchangeable sources.
