The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration intends to award a sole source contract to Karl Storz Endoscopy-America, Inc. for preventative maintenance services on a Karl Storz Modulith SLX-F2 lithotripter, serial number OR831, located at the Central Arkansas VA Healthcare System. The contract, identified by solicitation number 36C25621C0132, covers a performance period from September 14, 2021, to September 13, 2022, with a total estimated value of 13,500.00 dollars. The scope of work includes two preventative maintenance visits per year, technical phone support, and a 5 percent discount on parts and labor not covered under the maintenance services. This procurement is conducted as a sole source award under the authority of VHAPM Part 813.106 Simplified Acquisition Procedures and NAICS code 811219. The justification for the single source award is based on the fact that Karl Storz Lithotripsy-America is the only authorized distributor and service entity in North America for the Modulith lithotripter models manufactured by STORZ Medical AG. Market research and a previous Sources Sought notice confirmed that the vendor does not authorize third party service groups to maintain this proprietary equipment, making them the only capable provider for these specific services.
