The Department of Veterans Affairs, through its Network Contracting Office 6 in Hampton, VA, awarded a sole-source contract to Olympus America Inc. for the comprehensive maintenance and support of Olympus endoscopic equipment at the Asheville VA Medical Center. The contract, identified by solicitation number 36C24626Q0151 and awarded on December 10, 2025, covers a one-year base period with a total award amount of approximately $353,128. This award was justified under FAR 13.106-1(b) to ensure continuity of specialized maintenance services for these medical devices, which include full repair coverage with no financial caps, accidental damage protection, 24/7 telephone support, staff training, and access to Olympus Continuum's preventative maintenance and educational programs. The contract explicitly prohibits subcontracting, requiring Olympus America Inc. to directly perform all contractual work, with all labor, materials, and travel costs included in the fixed price. The scope of this contract focuses exclusively on Olympus equipment servicing at the Asheville facility, ensuring equipment uptime and operational reliability. Performance oversight is managed by the Department of Veterans Affairs, with inspection and acceptance taking place onsite. No formal competitive evaluation factors or standard packaging, marking, or invoicing protocols are detailed in the contract documentation. The contracting officer is Natasha Leahy, who serves as the primary point of contact. The procurement does not specify detailed line-item pricing breakdowns, options, or extensions. While a broader NAICS classification indicates the contract’s industrial machinery repair and maintenance nature, this award reflects a singular procurement aimed at maintaining critical medical instrumentation under a sole-source arrangement.
