The Department of Cannabis Control has approved a cannabis retail license for KGMB, following an application submitted on May 31, 2019. The project involves the operation of a retail cannabis facility located at 3651 Soquel Drive, Soquel, CA 95073, within Santa Cruz County. The business will utilize an existing industrial building, formerly a brewery, situated on a 24,263 square foot parcel (APN 030-051-21). The scope of work includes the storage of cannabis products for retail and minor tenant improvements to the existing structure; notably, there are no plans for building expansion. Utility services for the site will be provided by PG&E for energy and Santa Cruz Municipal Utilities for water. Under the California Code of Regulations Title 14, Section 15301, the project has been designated as a Class 1 Categorical Exemption. This determination is based on the fact that the project involves negligible or no expansion of use beyond the existing conditions of the facility. The Department of Cannabis Control, specifically through its Cultivation Licensing Branch, oversees this action pursuant to the authority granted under Business and Procession Code Division 10, Chapter 2, Section 26012.
