KingFisher Flex Purification System with 96 PCR

This contract action is for the acquisition of supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1). The National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to Fisher Scientific, 4500 Turnberry Drive, Hanover Park IL, 60133-5491, for the acquisition of a KingFisher Flex Purification System with 96 PCR Magnet Head. It has been determined that Fisher Scientific, is the only known responsible source capable of providing the required instrument and no other instrument will satisfy the agency's requirements. The anticipated delivery time is 30 days, ARO. The applicable North American industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 339113 "Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing". Its associated Business Size Standard is 750 employees. The KingFisherTM Flex Purification System is required by the Mechanisms of Genome Dynamics Group, at the NIEHS for purifying proteins and nucleic acids from biological samples. This is the only designated supply with electronically controlled protocols which are the only protocols compatible with experimental designs already established in the lab. The Thermo Scientific KingFisher Flex purification system provides plate-based handling (mix, capture, transfer, release) of magnetic particles for bead-based nucleic acid and protein affinity purification procedures. This easy-to-use instrument provides excellent reproducibility and minimizes the hands-on time required for DNA, RNA, and protein isolation from a wide range of sample types. The system is available with four different user interchangeable magnetic head formats, enabling scientists to process a variety of volumes with compatible purification reagents.
