Klondike Landfill Monitoring Well Installation

The Escambia County Waste Services Department is soliciting proposals for the installation of three new 2-inch monitoring wells at the closed Klondike Landfill in Pensacola, Florida. This project is necessitated by the construction of a new subdivision and is strictly limited to the installation of new wells, with no requirements for the contractor to address existing wells on site. The scope of work includes obtaining permits, performing utility locates, and executing three 4x6 sonic continuous borings from 50 to 70 feet below ground surface. Technical specifications require the use of a 20/40 silica sand filter pack, a 30/65 sand seal, and bentonite pellets, with neat cement grout placed via tremie pipe. All wells must be developed, purged, and finished with concrete pads and lockable covers. Eligible contractors must hold a valid FDEP water well contractor license and provide proof of Sunbiz registration. The award process considers delivery time and gives preference to businesses with a certified Drug-Free Workplace Program. Required insurance coverages include General Liability with a 2 million dollar annual aggregate, Business Auto Liability of 1 million dollars, and Workers Compensation with 1 million dollar employer liability limits. Proposals must be submitted through the OpenGov e-procurement portal by September 16, 2026. Quality control for the project will be managed by Geosyntec Consultants on behalf of the county.
