Full Description

Lawrence Regional Airport is a federally obligated public-use general aviation airport that is committed to maintaining safe, accessible, and financially sustainable facilities while supporting the aeronautical needs of the Lawrence community and surrounding region. Federal obligations applicable to the Airport require the sponsor to make suitable airport space available on reasonable terms to qualified aeronautical users and to manage airport facilities in a manner consistent with those obligations. FAA guidance also recognizes the importance of reasonable and consistently applied standards for commercial aeronautical activities and airport leasing. The City of Lawrence recently acquired the improvements located at 1950 N. 7th Street as part of its ongoing effort to bring Airport property and lease arrangements into compliance with applicable federal requirements and to return the facility to an appropriate aeronautical use. The City is now seeking a qualified tenant for the approximately 2,900-square-foot hangar and approximately 540-square-foot office area. The Airport views the facility as an opportunity to expand the range of aeronautical services available to Airport users while making productive use of existing Airport infrastructure. The City is particularly interested in proposals that would establish or expand aeronautical services that are currently limited or unavailable at Lawrence Regional Airport. A successful proposal will demonstrate a viable business operation, compliance with applicable Airport Rules and Regulations and Minimum Standards, appropriate insurance and safety practices, and the ability to operate compatibly with existing Airport activities. Hangar Amenities: The hangar is steel framed, and has water (hot and cold) and electric access. The hangar has a sink located between the bathroom and kitchenette doors, as well as a full bathroom (sink, toilet, and shower), and a sink in the kitchenette area. The office space area also contains a small closet area that can be useful for additional storage. The hangar's office and the City's Airport Administration office share HVAC capabilities and utility costs. The hangar has 1 door to access landside parking and amenities directly from the hangar. Airside access is only available via use of the 40ft long by 10ft tall electric hangar door. The hangar has two lighting systems; 1 system utilizes a series of fluorescent light bulbs, and the other 1 halogen spotlight. The hangar floor is concrete, and is in fair condition. The Electric Hangar Door utilizes a semi-transparent corrugated plastic that allows for additional sunlight to naturally illuminate the hangar. There is additional storage space available above the hangar's office, and an optional loft storage rack near the office entrance.
