This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1). The North American Industry Classification System code is 333314 and the business size standard is 500. Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract. Period of Performance shall be from award through September 30, 2012. It has been determined there are no opportunities to acquire green products or services for this procurement. This equipment will be used for examining the brain tissue after it has been frozen and processed. The microscope also has a unique Constant Color Intensity Control (CCIC) that maintains the color temperature at a constant 3200 K when the lamp voltage is changed. In addition, the Z drive is motorized, which offers the convenience of automatic parfocality adjustment, saved focus levels, and automated positioning of various Z levels. The NCI knows of no other entity that can supply the requested equipment. This notice is not a request for competitive quotation.
