The project involves repairing the Leffingwell boat launch at Leffingwell Landing in Hearst Sam Simeon State Park to extend the functional life of this critical water access point for park visitors. The launch is a 14-foot-wide concrete structure built atop native bedrock, and the repairs will address three identified voids beneath its front side. The work includes coring through the existing concrete to reach these voids, embedding dowels secured with cementitious grout into the adjacent retaining wall or rock to stabilize the ramp during repair, and injecting approximately 50 cubic yards of concrete into the voids before patching the cored areas. To further safeguard the structure from ongoing erosion, expanded rock slope protection will be installed along the beach-facing profile of the ramp. This initiative is part of a geotechnical investigation effort by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, with the work scheduled to be conducted in Cambria, California, at the 93428 zip code. The project was posted on July 2, 2026, as a forecasted procurement to prepare for future contracting activities. Brad Michalk, the Statewide CEQA Coordinator, serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries, and all project details are accessible through the California CEQA website via the provided UI link. The scope focuses strictly on structural stabilization and erosion mitigation without expanding or altering the original facility’s dimensions or function.
