Letter of Intent for Sole Source Acquisition of Modified BBU-63/B Bomb Ejection Impulse Cartridges

Contractor Awarded Address: 2525 Curtiss St, Downers Grove, IL 60515-4060 Synopsis: The United States Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) in coordination with the United States Air Force 498 Nuclear System Group intends to issue a contract, FA9422-10-C-0002, to acquire Modified BBU-63/B Bomb Ejection Impulse Cartridges. This contract will provide technical and analytical expertise to produce Modified BBU-63/B Bomb Ejection Impulse Cartridges for BRU-44B/A Ejection Rack testing. Based on the Ogden Air Logistics Center AMC/AMSC Screening Analysis Worksheet Report, the only approved source of supply listed is, Scot Inc. AFNWC/PKE and the 498 NSG program office concluded that only Scot Inc. possesses the manning, capability, and experience necessary to effectively provide 498 NSG with proper modification of the BBU-63/B cartridges. Scot, Inc. is also the manufacturer of the BBU-63/B cartridges in current Air Force inventory. AFNWC/PKE intends to award a contract on a sole source basis under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 (a) (2) (ii) to Scot Inc. The FAR states that supplies may be deemed to be available only from the original source in the case of a follow-on contract for the continued development or production of a major system or highly specialized equipment, including major components thereof, when it is likely that award to any other source would result in substantial duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition. While this notice of intent is for information purposes only, and is not a request for competitive proposals, interested parties may identify their interest and technical capability, and submit information which shall be considered by the agency.
