The Hay/Daisy Bridges Phase 4 project, managed by the Custer Gallatin National Forest under the Department of Agriculture, is located in the Little Belt Mountains of the Musselshell Ranger District, approximately 30 miles northwest of Harlowton, Montana. The scope of work involves the construction of two glued-laminated stringer bridges built to Forest Service Region 1 Standard Plans, the creation of an embankment with a culvert, and the construction of a new trail. Additionally, the contractor is responsible for the disposal of three native timber bridges and related incidental work. Due to the remote location at an elevation of 6500 feet, it is expected that bridge materials, culverts, and drainage and gabion rock will be transported to the site via helicopter. Access to the project site is via Forest Development Road 189 and motorized trails, with specific restrictions based on the 2007 Travel Plan. While equipment up to 50 inches in width is authorized for use on Trail 601 for construction purposes, daily access must adhere to standard restrictions. The project has an estimated magnitude of construction between 25,000 and 100,000 dollars, with a performance period ending September 1, 2011. Technical requirements include adherence to specific site maps, clearing limits, and trailbed cross-sections as outlined in the project specifications.
