The U.S. Army Contracting Command - New Jersey is conducting a market survey to identify qualified vendors with demonstrated capabilities in light manufacturing, particularly in robotic welding, precision machining, and material finishing, to support potential future production of the M205 Tripod for heavy machine guns and the M192 Lightweight Ground Mount for medium and light machine guns. Both systems require high-precision fabrication using bent sheet metal, machined aluminum components, and cast parts, all assembled to a U.S. Government Technical Data Package and featuring integral Traverse & Elevating mechanisms for accurate fire control. Respondents must detail their production capacity, including current sustainable monthly output, lead times for First Article Testing, and the additional resources required to achieve a target production rate of 150 units per month. Submissions must include technical literature, descriptions of key equipment such as milling and casting tools, and evidence of prior experience manufacturing similar military or commercial products, along with a quality assurance plan compliant with ISO 9001:2008 or an equivalent standard. Vendors are required to complete a questionnaire providing corporate details including business size classification, CAGE and DUNS codes, facility locations, workforce allocation, and key suppliers, with all information submitted in English. The North American Industry Classification System code for this effort is 332994, with a small business threshold of 1,000 employees. Technical drawings and data are not provided during this market survey, and any future procurement would involve restricted technical data governed by the Arms Export Control Act and Export Administration Act. This announcement is strictly for informational purposes, not a solicitation or commitment to award a contract; responses are voluntary and at no cost to the government, with no obligation on the part of the Army to respond to inquiries or notify participants of outcomes. All submissions must be received electronically by August 8, 2026, to the designated points of contact, with no telephone inquiries accepted.

The U.S. Army Contracting Command - New Jersey (ACC-NJ), Picatinny Arsenal, is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources with experience in assorted light manufacturing capabilities, to included robotic welding and material finishing, and associated technologies (corporate knowledge, technical expertise, facilities, manufacturing equipment, and product acceptance test hardware). This information will help inform future U.S Government acquisition decisions and identify potential sources for the manufacture of the M205 Tripod for Heavy Machine Guns (NSN: 1005-01-586-5702) and/or the M192 Lightweight Ground Mount (LWGM) for Medium/Light Machine Guns (NSN: 1005-01-680-5028).

The M205 Tripod is used with the M2/M2A1 Cal .50 Machine Guns and the MK19 40mm Grenade Machine Gun.  The M192 LWGM is used with the M240B/L 7.62mm Medium Machine Guns and the M249 5.56mm Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW). Both the M205 Tripod and the M192 LWGM provide a stable firing platform for delivering controlled, sustained, and accurate fire at extended ranges.  Additionally, both are  produced to a U.S. Government Technical Data Package (TDP). In addition, an integral Traverse & Elevating (T&E) mechanism is included as part of the M205 Tripod and M192 LWGM systems and provides controlled manipulation in both traverse and elevation. This T&E consists of a machined aluminum housing and numerous precision machined and cast parts to provide the required adjustments. The M205 Tripod’s manufacture involves various bent sheet metal parts, with intricate machined features and robotic welding to secure various attaching points.

The M192 LWGM’s manufacture involves several bent sheet metal parts, as well as a space frame and legs made from metal tubing which are joined using robotic welding techniques.
