The Air Force intends to procure a Linatron M9A High Energy X-Ray Linear Accelerator from Varian Medical Systems, Inc. under a non-competitive contract process. This procurement is necessary to replace the outdated L-3000 X-Ray Linear Accelerator and ensure full compatibility with the existing ICT 1500 System hardware and software. Because Varian Medical Systems holds the trademark rights and the government does not own the necessary data to source the item elsewhere, the acquisition is being pursued under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (C)(1) and FAR 6.301-1. The government specifies that only newly manufactured items will be accepted, strictly prohibiting used or remanufactured equipment. While this notice serves as an intent to negotiate with a limited number of sources rather than a formal request for competitive proposals, the government may consider proposals from interested parties to determine if a competitive procurement is warranted. The performance for this contract is located at Hill AFB in Utah.
