This contract concerns the procurement of liner augmentors for the F-100/220 engine, specifically a component that encloses the combustion area and protects the augmentor duct from high temperatures. The item, made primarily from a cobalt-based alloy, measures 58 inches in length and 41 inches in diameter. The procurement will deliver 25 units by December 31, 2008, following a solicitation anticipated to issue on May 1, 2008, with a closing date of June 1, 2008. First article testing is required, and potential suppliers must be qualified prior to award. The sources are currently limited to Unison Engine Components (Smith's Aerospace) and United Tech Corp, and due to the specialized nature of the item, the acquisition is being pursued under a justification allowing negotiation with selected responsible sources only. The solicitation is managed through the OC-ALC/PKXDA at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, with Nino Lenora as the primary contract specialist contact. Export control considerations apply, and there is an appointed Ombudsman to address any concerns from offerors during the acquisition process, ensuring confidentiality and impartial communication. Interested parties, including small businesses seeking subcontracting opportunities, are encouraged to contact the listed entities for qualification details or proposal submissions. The contract is governed under the authority of FAR and United States Code provisions regarding limited source procurement, emphasizing the necessity of meeting strict qualification requirements prior to contract award.
