Maintenance Confocal Equipment

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to PerkinElmer for an annual maintenance servicing Operetta Unit Confocal instruments. This sole source will be awarded with one (1) base and four (4) option years. These instruments are highly technical engineered products. In addition, Perkin Elmer is the sole source provider of spare parts for this instrument. No other entities or individuals receive the extensive training required for maintaining and repairing, except Perkin Elmer service engineers. Due to the nature of these instruments, only a factory trained representative should provide any required service. Unauthorized persons making adjustments or repairs may invalidate the warranty or any existing service agreement. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, all quotations/responses received will be considered by the government within five (5) business days of the issuance of this notice. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. All vendors/prospective contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) prior to an award of a federal contract.
