Manatee Harbor DMMA Offloading 2020, Manatee County, Florida W912EP20Z0035 INDUSTRY DAY DATE: Wednesday, 1 July 2020 TIME: 1:00 PM Eastern Time LOCATION: WebEx Presentation (a slide show will be posted via amendment). All interested parties must contact Mr. Dewayne Sparks at contact@example.gov & Ms. Claurice Dingle at contact@example.gov no later than 29 June 2020 by 4:00pm EST in order to receive the link to access the industry day presentation. All interested Offerors are required to access BetaSam.gov for future updates. DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: The project consists of excavating material out of the Manatee Harbor Dredge Material Management Area (DMMA) located in Manatee County, Florida. The material shall be transported approximately 7.5 miles south to the Washington Park Placement Site. Project work consists of using the excavated material to construct a haul road in Washington Park with a finished crest elevation of 18.6 feet. Material from the DMMA shall then be placed in the fill template at the southern end of the haul road. The placed material shall be surrounded by a perimeter silt fence. Project work also includes clearing and grubbing, seeding, installation of drainage structures and slope protection features, and environmental monitoring. Refer to the attached DRAFT plan sheets for orientation of the project features. Location of Project The excavation site is located at the Manatee Harbor Dredge Material Management Area (DMMA). Washington Park placement site is located east of a railroad, south of 39th St. E., west of 8th Ave. E. and north of 30th St. E. situated in Palmetto, Florida. See the attached draft plans for location and vicinity maps. Specific Project Challenges The material in the DMMA varies greatly in terms of grain size and water content. The majority of the dry material exists in spur dikes inside the DMMA. Material at lower elevations and between spur dikes is more saturated which may not be as conducive to hauling as the spur dike material. The areas with saturated material are also not reliable surfaces to operate conventional equipment on. Environmental Conditions Contractor is required to remain within the construction limits in order to minimize wetland impacts outside the project area. Plans and Specifications Attached are DRAFT Plans of this project for industry consumption prior to Industry Day. DRAFT specifications may be added to this posting on a later date. Notice of Intent to solicit a single source – Fish and Macroinvertebrate (Nekton) Monitoring (St. Johns River)
Solicitation # W912EP-27-Q-1CTH
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, intends to award a sole-source contract to the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The project focuses on nekton monitoring within selected zones and tributaries of the Lower St. Johns River in Northeast Florida. This effort is categorized under NAICS code 541620 for Environmental Consulting Services and is designed to assess the ecological impacts of a 2022 channel deepening project that increased the river depth to 47 feet to accommodate larger vessels for the Jacksonville Port Authority. The primary objective is to evaluate how changes in salinity and water quality resulting from the deepening affect the spawning, recruitment, and population dynamics of commercially and recreationally important species, such as blue crab, white shrimp, and red drum. Monitoring will specifically target critical habitats between river kilometers 14 and 48, as well as areas upstream of Julington Creek, to determine if shifting salinity gradients are impacting nursery habitats or resident freshwater species. This long-term sampling will provide the necessary data to gauge the overall environmental effects of the channel modifications on the estuary's nekton assemblages.
