The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, intends to award a firm fixed price contract for alignment and machining work in support of the repair and installation of a new dredging ladder onto the Dustpan Dredge HURLEY in Memphis, TN. A new dredging ladder was recently constructed at the US Army Corps of Engineers Ensley Engineer Yard located in Memphis, TN. The new ladder is intended to support the installation of the ladder dredge pump for the Dredge HURLEY. Additionally, the existing (old) ladder will be retained for future emergency use, if ever needed. The Contractor shall perform measurement surveys using a photogrammetry and alignment specialist to identify the existing condition as well as the optimum alignment of the new dredge ladder and the dredge trunion mounts, and also the old ladder. The results of the surveys shall form the basis for the machining work required to alignment the equipment. Once that has been defined, the Contractor shall overbore the bore holes on both the old and new dredging ladders and the trunion bosses on the dredge in order to correct the misalignment of the bore centerlines with respect to each other and the centerline of the vessel. The Contractor shall then perform a weld buildup operation of each bore diameter per the original construction drawings referenced in this solicitation, and finally re-bore each hole to the tolerances specified on the reference drawings. All work shall be performed in accordance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual (EM 385-1-1) which is available for download at http://www.usace.army.mil/SafetyandOccupationalHealth/SafetyandHealthRequirementsManual.aspx All Offerors are invited and encouraged to visit the dredge and new ladder in order to properly scope out the job. All requests for visit shall be coordinated with US Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District Dredge HURLEY - Frank Segree, Master - (901) 544-3130.
