Market Street Cycle Track

The City of San Antonio's Public Works Department is seeking qualified firms through a Request for Qualifications to undertake engineering design and construction administration services for the Market Street Cycle Track project. This initiative aims to enhance the bicycle infrastructure extending from South Flores to IH 37 in downtown San Antonio. The selected firm will be tasked with developing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E), as well as providing environmental support services. Key responsibilities include creating a two-way separated cycle track along Market/Dolorosa, South Alamo, and Commerce Streets. This project involves modifications to existing drainage systems, installation of traffic signals, enhancement of pedestrian and bicycle safety lighting, and streetscape improvements, along with appropriate signage and pavement markings. The project will also necessitate the firm to conduct supplemental surveying, engage with the public and stakeholders, undertake historical and archaeological investigations, and oversee construction phases. Consequently, the project will see the removal of a travel lane on Market Street, realignment on South Alamo Street, and the elimination of a parking lane on Commerce Street. Expected to span approximately 12 months, the design phase will precede construction, with specific timelines and contract terms negotiated prior to awarding. The total contract value is capped at $1,300,000, ensuring that the mission to improve San Antonio's urban bicycle facilities is both comprehensive and economically viable.
