The U.S. Army RDECOM - Natick Contracting Division, acting on behalf of USSOCOM, intends to award a sole source purchase order to NACRE AS, based in Trondheim, Norway, for the supply of 15 MBITR Duplex Headset Systems. This decision follows a previous open market survey and a review of NACRE AS's submission, which led to the determination that only this company can fulfill the specific testing and evaluation requirements related to the headset systems. The procurement is conducted under the Federal Acquisition Regulation Parts 12 and 13, which govern the acquisition of commercial items and simplified acquisition procedures, respectively. Because the testing and evaluation are uniquely suited to the NACRE AS product, the contract will be awarded directly without competition. The contracting office is located in Natick, Massachusetts, and inquiries regarding the acquisition can be directed to Mr. Richard R. Alves, Jr. The announcement for this contract opportunity was posted on March 22, 2007, and will expire on March 26, 2007, at 8:00 a.m. local time. This effort supports the Department of Defense’s need for specialized communication equipment tailored to operational requirements.
