Meadow Pointe Water System/Upper Lake County Water District Consolidation

The Upper Lake County Water District is preparing to consolidate the contaminated Meadow Pointe Water System into its service area to address unsafe drinking water conditions caused by MTBE contamination, as mandated by the State Water Resources Control Board. This initiative includes upgrading the Upper Lake water system to extend service to Meadow Pointe via a master meter while replacing the entire Meadow Pointe distribution infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable water delivery. The project also extends service to residents along Bridge Arbor North Road whose private wells are similarly tainted, providing them with access to a treated, public water supply. Legal and administrative steps will be taken through LAFCO to formally expand the Upper Lake water service area and sphere of influence to encompass these new service zones, ensuring regulatory compliance and long-term operational authority. The consolidation aims to resolve public health concerns, eliminate dependency on contaminated groundwater sources, and establish a unified, sustainable water delivery system for the affected communities.
