Membership in the Union for International Cancer Control

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC), within the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) intends to award a sole source contract to Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), 62 route de Frontenex, 1207 Geneva, Switzerland for full membership available to organisations, networks or entities that are substantially engaged in evidence-based cancer control or research with appropriate organisational structures. Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) is a membership organization that exists to help the global health community accelerate the fight against cancer. Founded in 1933 and based in Geneva, UICC's growing membership of over 800 organizations across 155 countries, features the world's major cancer societies, ministries of health, research institutes and patient groups. Together with its members, key partners, the World Health Organization, World Economic Forum and others, UICC is tackling the growing cancer crisis on a global scale. UICC works closely with key international UN agencies including: the World Health Organization (WHO), with whom we are in official relations, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy (PACT), and has consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). In addition to this, UICC offers corporate partners a unique opportunity to demonstrate social responsibility on a global scale. UICC is committed to delivering the targets of the World Cancer Declaration through strategic partnerships involving members and other institutions interested in fighting cancer. Together we aim to save millions of lives by focusing on what needs to be done by taking the lead in: - Convening the global cancer control community - Advocacy and putting cancer on the global health agenda - Coordinating high-impact global programmes The statutory authority for this sole source acquisition is 10 U.S.C 2304(c)(1) in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1- only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirement. The NAICS code for this procurement is 813990 -- Other Similar Organizations (except Business, Professional, Labor, and Political Organizations). The period of performance for this procurement is 12 months. As a result of this synopsis, no competitive solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps. We will issue only one solicitation to Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). However, all responsible sources that believe they can meet these requirements may submit their capabilities/qualifications statement to provide the services to LaShanda Washington via email at LNWashington@cdc.gov with the solicitation number 2015-Q-17080 referenced in the subject line NO LATER THAN 12 PM EST, March 27, 2015. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action will be based on responses to this notice and are solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
