The United States Coast Guard is seeking a contractor to perform a major overhaul on the number two Caterpillar Ship Service Diesel Generator aboard the CGC Midgett in Honolulu, Hawaii. This requirement stems from critical engine failure characterized by high crankcase pressure and excessive oil and vapor emissions, which rendered the unit inoperable and necessitated depot level assistance. The scope of work requires the contractor to execute a Major Overhaul in accordance with TP 14025. Additional potential requirements include the renewal of the crankshaft and the performance of a hot lube oil flush for the engine and its ancillary equipment following the verification of crankcase obstructions.

CGC MIDGETT #2 SSDG experienced high crankcase pressure with oil/smoke/vapor protruding from lube oil dipstick ports and crankcase vents. The contractor must execute the Major Overhaul listed in TP 14025 (SMCS Code 7595-020-MJ).
The Contractor may be directed to renew the Crankshaft.
Following crankcase obstruction verification, the Contractor may be directed to perform a Hot Lube Oil Flush of the engine and ancillary equipment.
