Mission Springs Water District Groundwater Quality Protection Program Septic to Sewer Project

The Mission Springs Water District Groundwater Quality Protection Program Septic to Sewer Project is a long-term infrastructure initiative located in Desert Hot Springs, California, designed to protect potable groundwater by replacing septic tanks with a centralized wastewater collection system. The project involves the construction of 146,200 linear feet of 8-inch sewer pipeline and the installation of approximately 2,500 new 4- to 6-inch service laterals. The primary objectives are to connect 2,600 parcels to the district sewer system and abate over 2,040 on-site septic systems. Work will be performed within roadways and existing rights-of-way, specifically targeting sewer improvement sub-areas A, D-3, G, H, I, J-2, K, and the North Indian Canyon Drive / I-10 corridor. The project is anticipated to span approximately 20 years, with one sub-area constructed roughly every 30 months. Environmental clearance has been established through a Final Mitigated Negative Declaration, and all identified mitigation measures from the Initial Study will be adopted as project conditions and managed via a mitigation monitoring and reporting program.
