Full Description

The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (Corporation) plans to purchase miter gate wall quoin contact blocks and miter gate contact blocks. All blocks will be fabricated of austenitic stainless steel "Nitronic 60" or of an alloy having similar physical and chemical properties. Contact blocks will be ordered in sets for four (4) miter gates of varying heights with each set being comprised of 1) concave wall quoin contact blocks for two (2) surfaces per miter gate, 2) convex miter contact blocks for one (1) surface per miter gate, 3) concave miter contact blocks for one (1) surface per miter gate and 4) convex quoin contact blocks for two (2) surfaces per miter gate. The wall quoin contact blocks will be approximately 2-1/2 in. thick by 12 in. wide in individual lengths varying from approximately 10 ft-6 in. to 12 ft. The miter gate contact blocks will be approximately 2-1/2 in. thick by 8 in. wide in individual lengths varying from 7 ft.-6 in. to 9 ft.-6 in. All contact blocks will have one concave or convex face and the opposite face will be drilled and tapped for securing the blocks in place. The Corporation plans to order a set of contact blocks for a miter gate requiring approximately 45 ft. of contact blocks for all six (6) surfaces prior to January 1, 2010 with an option to order three (3) additional sets of contact blocks for one (1) miter gate requiring approximately 37 ft. and two (2) requiring approximately 82 ft. of contact blocks for all six (6) surfaces prior to September 30, 2012, based on funding availability. The Corporation intends to award a firm fixed price contract with economic price adjustment on or about December 21, 2009. Delivery of the first order will be required by July 31, 2010.
