Miter Gate Rehabilitation-Snell Lock

The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (Corporation) plans to issue an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for a contractor to furnish all plant, labor, equipment and materials (except for the wall quoin contact blocks, miter gate miter and quoin contact blocks, pintles, pintle bushings and pintle castings, all of which will be furnished by the Corporation) and perform all work for rehabilitating the upstream miter gate at Snell Lock in Massena. New York. This project will include work to replace the embedded wall quoin assemblies, the quoin and miter contact blocks, the pintles, pintle bushings and castings, the diagonals and rubber seals. To accomplish these tasks will require that each gate leaf, which is approximately 45 ft. wide by 37 ft. high and each weighing approximately 150 tons, be lifted and moved out of the way , concrete be removed and replaced, steel be cut and welded, and molten zinc be placed behind the contact blocks. The final plumbness and alignment of the gate leafs is critical to their operation. The on-site portion of the project must be completed between the 2011 and 2012 navigation seasons (approximately between January 1, 2012 and March 15, 2012) or the opening of the entire St. Lawrence Seaway will be delayed. The cost range of this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. There is a $10.00 US funds non-refundable fee for a CD with drawings, or $200.00 US funds non-refundable fee for hard/paper copies of drawings.
