The contract involves a detailed investigation and testing related to the Trident II Fire Control System and Attack Weapon Control System, focusing on comparing the Mod 0 and Mod 1 Guidance Systems. The contractor is tasked with defining and executing tests to quantify differences between these two guidance systems while performing accelerated life tests on Electronic Replacement Units (ERNs) provided by approved vendors. Additionally, the contractor must develop a model to simulate system behavior, which must be validated either at Complex 30 or aboard a Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missile (SSBN). Risk mitigation strategies are also required to address any potential issues that could impact the Fire Control System's performance. Negotiations for this effort will be conducted with General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) in Pittsfield, MA, the sole manufacturer and expert provider of the Trident (II) D5 Strategic Weapon System’s Fire Control and Attack Weapons Control Systems.
