The U.S. Army RDECOM Acquisition Center in Natick, MA, on behalf of PM Soldier, plans to negotiate a contract modification with Hatch Worldwide to increase the maximum quantity of the U.S. Army Combat Glove contract by an additional 150,000 pairs. This action is taken under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 for only one responsible source, given that Hatch Worldwide is the sole manufacturer with a Fully Approved Test (FAT) glove that has been field tested and evaluated, and possesses the necessary materials to meet the immediate need. The requirement calls for 15,000 pairs per month starting in July 2008 to support ongoing operations in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. This contract modification serves as a bridge buy to ensure sufficient glove supply while a new full and open solicitation is being prepared for release in October 2008. The procurement falls under the North American Industry Classification System code 315992 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. This action is time sensitive, with the notice expiring on July 3, 2008. The Department of Defense’s Natick office oversees the procurement, and inquiries can be directed to Kevin Parker, the assigned contract specialist.
