The Modoc Wildland Urban Interface Fuels Reduction Project - Phase 1 Fort Bidwell Electrical Substation is managed by the Modoc Resource Conservation District in Modoc County, California. The project focuses on hazardous fuels reduction and vegetation management across approximately 27 acres of Tribal and non-Tribal lands surrounding the Fort Bidwell Electrical Substation. Primary activities include manual and mechanical thinning, mastication, chipping, and limited pile burning to improve defensible space, reduce hazardous vegetative fuels, and enhance overall wildfire resilience. The project is designated as exempt under CEQA Guidelines Section 15304, Class 4, for minor alterations to land and vegetation, meaning no significant environmental effects are anticipated and the removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees is prohibited.
