The Moffat Fuels Stewardship Project, situated on the Sulphur Ranger District of the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest in Colorado, aims to enhance forest health through targeted restoration efforts within the Upper Colorado Forest Health and Fuels Reduction Environmental Analysis area. The project focuses on creating forest stands more resistant to insect and disease outbreaks by reducing canopy density and crown fire potential, as well as promoting the establishment of a second cohort in primarily single-layered stands. To meet these goals, activities will include selective group harvests, mechanical fuels reduction, and site preparation. This initiative will be executed under a commercial services contract primarily involving timber removal, and it is designated as a total small business set-aside under FAR 19.5. The project area encompasses specific sections within Township 2 South, Range 75 West, 6th principal meridian, near Granby, Colorado. The solicitation was posted in late 2016 by the Department of Agriculture’s Rocky Mountain Regional Office, with designated points of contact including forestry professionals for coordination and project oversight. The project is aligned with NAICS code 115310, reflecting forestry services, and aims to support sustainable forest management and wildfire risk reduction.
