The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) Global Health Initiative (the Initiative) aims to develop knowledge and tools for addressing threats to Australia’s national health security from regional and global challenges. The objective of this grant opportunity is to provide grants of financial assistance to support medical research and medical innovation projects that, through co-design with consumers and health services, develop scalable and sustainable approaches to anticipate, prevent and/or mitigate the impact of climate change on communicable diseases affecting people in Australia. The intended outcome of the research is to improve the health and wellbeing of Australians by addressing the health impacts of communicable diseases and climate change. Applications must clearly demonstrate activities for capacity building for early to mid-career researchers and/or early career clinician researchers, including salary stipends for PhD scholarships or clinician time where relevant. Applicants to this grant opportunity must propose to conduct research that delivers against the above objective and those of the Global Health Initiative. Applicants are encouraged to propose novel and/or innovative research and describe how the outcomes of the research will be translated into health benefits for Australians. This grant opportunity is being administered by NHMRC on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. Further information on the Medical Research Future Fund is available from the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing's website. Solicitation # GO8671
The MRFF EPCDRI 2026 Improving Health Interventions and Services through Implementation Research Grant Opportunity, administered by the NHMRC on behalf of the Australian Government, provides financial assistance for medical research and innovation. The program is divided into two distinct streams: Stream 1 focuses on co-designed proof of concept or pilot studies to establish feasibility and impact, while Stream 2 supports multidisciplinary implementation research aimed at improving the adoption and scaling of evidence-based health interventions. Applicants must partner with health service providers and consumers, focus on priority populations, and demonstrate how their novel research will translate into tangible health benefits for Australians. This federal opportunity offers a total program funding pool of 20 million dollars, with an award ceiling of 5 million dollars. Interested eligible organizations must submit their applications to only one of the two available streams by the deadline of March 3, 2027.
