Binghamton University is seeking to acquire a fully automated gas sorption analyzer capable of high-resolution surface area and pore size distribution characterization. The instrument must support multiport operation, including one port dedicated to micropore analysis and two for mesopore analysis, with the ability to perform high-throughput measurements either independently or simultaneously. It should accurately measure specific surface area, pore volume, and pore size distributions within a range of 0.35 to 500 nm, with a minimum measurable surface area as low as 0.0005 m2/g using krypton. Compatibility with various non-corrosive gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, argon, krypton, and others is required, along with a robust vacuum system featuring a turbo molecular drag pump and four-stage diaphragm pump capable of reaching an ultimate vacuum of 3.75 x 10^-11 mm Hg. The system must include precise pressure transducers with high accuracy and resolution, as well as thermal and cryogenic control mechanisms to maintain sample conditions. Construction materials should include stainless steel gas lines and leak-tight manifolds, with pneumatically actuated, hard-seal valves to ensure contamination-free operation. The accompanying software must provide comprehensive control, real-time data acquisition, customizable reporting, and diagnostic tools. Additional accessories should include an external degassing unit for sample preparation and a Peltier temperature control device capable of maintaining temperatures between 0°C and 80°C. The total procurement cost is capped at $125,000, with a one-time purchase deadline of September 16, 2025, and the contract will be awarded under SUNY’s discretionary authority.
