AI Contract Overview

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to negotiate and award a sole source contract with Johnson Controls, Inc. for the provision and installation of proprietary Cardkey Readers and door access control devices across various CDC campuses. Johnson Controls is the only qualified vendor capable of servicing the existing proprietary security systems installed in CDC buildings, making this non-competitive acquisition necessary to maintain the integrity and functionality of the current access control infrastructure. The contract will be awarded under justifications related to national security and uniqueness of the service provider, as outlined by Federal Acquisition Regulation clauses, and the acquisition value is below the simplified acquisition threshold. While this is not a solicitation for competitive proposals, the CDC invites interested parties to submit their interest in writing within 14 days of the contract notice publication. Responses should be directed to the designated contract specialist via email or fax. The procurement is classified under NAICS Code 236210, related to construction of buildings, but due to the proprietary nature of the equipment and the unique expertise required, Johnson Controls is the sole source provider for this requirement.
