The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, through its Program Contracting Activity Central (PCAC) National Activations Office (NAO), issued a notice of intent on September 2, 2017, to pursue a sole source acquisition for the upgrade of Alaris Carefusion infusion pumps and their corresponding pump server. This procurement supports the initial outfitting and activation of the new Denver VA Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. The upgrade involves both software and hardware improvements to maintain the drug delivery system used throughout the facility, including updates to drug formulary software, pump module maintenance, and quality reporting functionalities. The sole source justification is based on FAR regulations allowing simplified acquisition procedures for this commercial item, requesting Alaris equipment specifically from CareFusion, located in San Diego, CA. The procurement falls under NAICS code 339113 with an SBA size standard of 750 employees and is not open for competitive bidding; however, the VA invites any responsible sources capable of meeting the requirements to submit quotations with manufacturer cut sheets by September 8, 2017. Responses will be evaluated, but the decision to compete the procurement lies solely with the Government. The primary contract point of contact is Michelle Rhodes of the PCAC, with submissions directed to her email. This contract acquisition is critical to ensuring the new medical center is equipped with up-to-date, reliable infusion pump technology essential for patient care.
