The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, plans to modify an existing firm-fixed-price contract awarded to BAE Systems, Minneapolis, MN, for the production and delivery of additional quantities of MK 296 MOD 0 57mm target practice cartridges. The contract, originally awarded in September 2007, will be increased with a maximum funding amount of $4,300,000. This contract modification will be awarded on a sole-source basis in accordance with statutory authority, citing proprietary rights held by BAE Systems and the prohibitive cost of engaging alternative suppliers to meet the government’s requirements. Access to related synopses and solicitations is provided primarily through the Federal Business Opportunities website, with alternative access via the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line and the Naval Surface Warfare Center’s acquisition website. The action is managed out of the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana, under the Department of Defense. Communication regarding this contract can be directed to Ms. Rose Brenner, who serves as the point of contact for this modification. The restriction on competition underscores the unique nature of the supplies provided and the exclusivity of BAE Systems as the only viable source.

General Info

BAE Systems awarded $4.3M sole-source contract modification for MK 296 MOD 0 cartridges.
