Full Description

The US Forest Service on the National Forests of North Carolina, Nantahala Ranger District, has a requirement for a lower Nantahala River access consisting of a put-in / take out and fishing access construction project. This project shall consist of the construction of parking, viewing platforms and pedestrian access to the Nantahala River, lower portion. The work shall include the following: minor clearing and grubbing, selective demolition, site grading, construction of concrete retaining walls, sidewalks, steps, placement of asphalt pavement, signage, seeding and mulching, and erosion control. This project is located at various locations along the Nantahala River, lower portion, in Macon County, North Carolina. From Asheville NC take I-40 W approximately 20 miles, to US 74 W via exit 27 toward Clyde / Waynesville / Murphy / Atlanta / Maggie Valley. Go 1.3 miles and merge onto US-74 W via the exit on the left. Travel approximately 55 miles to the intersection of US Highway 19 and SR 28. Stay on US 19 and travel approximately 15 mile to the intersection with SR 1310 on left side and travel approximately 3.5 miles on SR 1310 to Project Site River Mile 16.5 on the Left. The magnitude of the project is between $100,000 and $250,000. A bid guarantee of 20% of the bid price is required. Performance and Payment Bonds will be required of the successful offeror. The solicitation will be available on this site on or about 27 July 2013. A site visit is scheduled to be held on 9 July 2013 at 0900; location will be addressed in the solicitation.
