National Implementation of HCAHPS Survey

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is seeking to continue the national implementation of the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey. This initiative focuses on revising the survey instrument and introducing new modes of implementation to gather essential data for comparative public reporting and Congressional reports on healthcare disparities. The HCAHPS survey is designed as a core set of questions that can function as a stand-alone questionnaire or be integrated with hospital-specific items. It is intended to complement existing internal hospital data collection efforts rather than replace them, ensuring that the agency obtains necessary data while supporting internal hospital service improvements.
