The Navy Nuclear (N94) NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Directorate is hosting a webinar to introduce the Vendor Information Portal & Education Resource (VIPER), an educational tool developed as part of their High Velocity Learning Initiatives. VIPER is designed to support current vendors and attract new ones by providing a centralized platform with non-sensitive procurement information related to N94's nuclear reactor supply chain management. The portal simplifies vendor engagement by offering a clear flowchart of the contract lifecycle, detailed descriptions of Navy Nuclear requirements, and direct links to required Department of Defense and non-DoD procurement websites. Vendors also have the ability to enter and update their organization’s contact information via the portal. The webinar is scheduled for March 23, 2017, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM EST and will be conducted using the Defense Collaboration Services platform, which is the DoD’s official web conferencing tool. It is an informational brief that does not require pre-registration, with questions submitted via chat during the session. Historical recordings of similar webinars are available for ongoing vendor support. Participants are advised that initial login may trigger normal DoD security warnings which they should accept. Points of contact for further information include LT Mark B. McKeon and Procurement Analyst Elena Fish, both reachable via phone or email for vendor inquiries.

Iowa Industry to Classroom Academy CTE Teacher Mentoring Grant Program
Solicitation # 685608
The Iowa Industry to Classroom Academy is a pilot mentoring program launched by the Iowa Department of Education to recruit and retain career and technical education teachers transitioning directly from industry. The program pairs new or emerging CTE teachers, who possess specialized industry skills but lack formal pedagogical training, with experienced mentors for two years. This collaboration is designed to reduce professional isolation and help mentees progress from an initial CTE Authorization to a full five-year authorization. The initial pilot focuses on Family and Consumer Sciences teachers before expanding to all CTE content areas. The program is built upon four pillars: educator retention, instructional excellence, educator well-being, and continuous reflective practice. Over the two-year cycle spanning 2026 to 2028, mentees must complete six core pedagogy areas, including human relations, CTE teaching methods, and curriculum development. Financial support includes a 1,000 dollar total tuition and fee reimbursement for mentees and a 4,000 dollar total stipend for mentors. Additional reimbursements are available for travel, meals, lodging, and substitute pay. Participants are required to engage in monthly meetings, classroom observations, and a capstone project, while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding program interactions.
