AI Contract Overview
The contract calls for the procurement of disposable hypodermic needles, specifically 25 gauge, 5/8 inch, packaged in units of 100 each, with a total order quantity of two packages. These needles must have a shelf life of 60 months, with no more than six months elapsed from the date of manufacture to government delivery. Packaging must meet the Defense Logistics Agency's (DLA) commercial standards, including sealed unit containers to prevent damage and suitable exterior shipping containers to ensure safe delivery at the lowest transportation cost. All packaging and marking are to comply with the latest Medical Marking Standard No. 1, which supersedes previous MIL-STD-129 requirements. The contract references several approved manufacturers and part numbers and mandates compliance with technical and quality requirements listed in the DLA Master List. Delivery is required within 20 days to a designated military facility in Richmond, Virginia, with inspection and acceptance occurring upon delivery. Shipment must not be sent using parcel post but rather by traceable freight means. The contract emphasizes adherence to ASTM D3951 for packaging, while prioritizing DLA’s Master List standards where applicable. Government identification must be removed from any non-accepted supplies, and bidders must specify their company and part numbers when submitting offers. This acquisition is part of the Department of Defense’s medical supply chain efforts and entails coordination with medical product specialists to ensure compliance with FDA regulations and contract specifications.
