The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis IAW RFO Part 12.102(a), statutory authority 41 U.S.C. 1901, with Cameca Instruments, located in Fitchburg, Wisconsin for services to a NIST-owned Cameca IMS1270E7.

Sole Source Rationale:

The Surface and Trace Chemical Analysis Group (STCAG) conducts research supporting measurement science, isotopic measurements, materials characterization, and nuclear forensics. The group operates a Cameca IMS1270E7 large geometry secondary ion mass spectrometer (LG-SIMS), which requires OEM maintenance to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.

Cameca Instruments, Inc. is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and maintains exclusive access to proprietary software, specialized diagnostic tools, engineering documentation, and technical schematics required to diagnose, maintain, repair, and calibrate the IMS1270E7.
