The Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity (DHACA) located at Fort Detrick, Maryland, plans to negotiate a sole source contract with YSI, Inc., based in Yellow Springs, Ohio, for preventive maintenance and repair services of YSI laboratory equipment. This equipment is used at the Defense Centers for Public Health - Aberdeen Laboratory to test animal tissue samples for pathological evaluation. Due to the specialized nature of the instruments and the requirement for Original Equipment Manufacturer-trained technicians to maintain operational and quality standards, YSI, Inc. is considered the only responsible source capable of providing these services.
